LESSONS IN STILLNESS

DESERTRADE is proud to be a Cultural Partner of BoxoPROJECTS’ Joshua Treenial. Join ecologist and desert conservationist Luke Basulto (National Parks Conservation Association, Saving Slow Poke) and artist Aidan Koch (Institute for Interspecies Art and Relations) for a lecture and collaborative drawing exercise on climate, art and connection to the local landscape. We will explore how the resilience and slow pace of the desert can teach us about our own ways to survive. We can appreciate the desert on an expansive level, but we wonder what we can learn by paying attention to the more intimate details and moments we share with it. The evening will be a mixer for DESERTRADE, to build awareness of the artist residency space's mission to promote that through communion, education, and elevation, we can create a more inclusive and conscious world.
